The key active compound in turmeric is curcumin, found within the plant’s root and responsible for its distinctive yellow colour. The turmeric root extract used in these tablets is highly concentrated and standardised to 95% curcumin, meaning each tablet provides the equivalent of 20g of culinary turmeric — around four heaped teaspoons. The tablets are taste‑free and coated to make them easy to swallow.
Many turmeric supplements on the market contain only standard culinary turmeric, typically providing around 400mg per tablet. This is far below the levels used in the studies that have driven interest in this remarkable spice.
Researchers continue to explore the idea that regular turmeric intake in traditional Asian diets may help explain some of the well‑documented benefits associated with Eastern eating patterns.
