This formula combines evening primrose oil with starflower (borage) seed oil to create a blend naturally richer in gamma‑linolenic acid (GLA) than standard evening primrose oil alone. Each capsule provides around 30% more GLA than similar evening primrose products, offering enhanced omega‑6 support.
GLA is the precursor to an important prostaglandin known as PGE1, which plays a role in regulating the nervous, cardiovascular and reproductive systems, as well as supporting skin condition and other biological functions. Although the body can convert linoleic acid (the omega‑6 fatty acid found in many vegetable oils) into GLA, this process can sometimes be slow or inefficient. A direct dietary source of GLA can therefore be beneficial, helping to bypass this conversion step. Numerous clinical studies have explored the usefulness of GLA supplementation in a variety of contexts.
This product provides approximately 50% more GLA per capsule than similar evening primrose options, and each capsule also supplies 83% of the NRV for vitamin E.
It is commonly recommended for women during menopause, at the time of their period, and for anyone wishing to support the condition of their skin. These benefits relate to the recognised roles of GLA and omega‑6 fatty acids in maintaining overall wellbeing.
